Old Ordnance Survey Maps

A selection of highly detailed "Old Ordnance Survey Maps", taken from the 1/2500 plans and reprinted at approximately 14" to the mile.

We are frequently asked what the maps actually show-if a particular village or street-sometimes-even an individual house! We have been asked to supply the map with the customers house exactly in the centre! Seldom are large scale maps available showing villages - they simply would not be viable . With the best will in the world we cannot answer all these questions or assist in your particular research. But it really is amazing the detail this series of maps show - bearing in mind the low cover price. We will always try and help where possible, but do bear the above points in mind when enquiring.

YORKSHIRE (South)

Wickersley 1901
Detailed map covers much of the village of Wickersley, east of Rotherham. Coverage stretches from the cross roads - where the Three Horse Shoes, White Swan and Mason Arms pubs are shown - southward to Pinch Mill and east to Slacks Farm. Features include Quarry Field, Wickersley Hall, Wickersley Grange, St Albans church, Pinchfield House. This is a fairly rural map but as a bonus we include the Six Inches to the Mile map for the area in 1891 on the reverse. This covers Wickersley, Bramley and Hellaby. A brief introduction is included on the reverse cover.
