Old Ordnance Survey Maps

A selection of highly detailed "Old Ordnance Survey Maps", taken from the 1/2500 plans and reprinted at approximately 14" to the mile.

We are frequently asked what the maps actually show-if a particular village or street-sometimes-even an individual house! We have been asked to supply the map with the customers house exactly in the centre! Seldom are large scale maps available showing villages - they simply would not be viable . With the best will in the world we cannot answer all these questions or assist in your particular research. But it really is amazing the detail this series of maps show - bearing in mind the low cover price. We will always try and help where possible, but do bear the above points in mind when enquiring.

YORKSHIRE (West)

Chapel Allerton & Gledhow 1906
This detailed map covers Chapel Allerton, on the north side of Leeds. Most of the village is shown, including Old Church, Allerton Hall, Allerton House, Allerton Hill, St Matthew's church, Allerton Park, Hawkhills, Woodland Lane. The Harrogate Road (with tramway) runs through the village, and the map extends north along it to Moor Allerton Bottoms, Whinbrook and Broomhill Farm. East of the village is Gledhow Park and coverage extends east to cover Gledhow, incl Gledhow Hall, Oakley House and the group of streets between Lidgett Lane and Jackson Avenue. To the north are Lidgett Farm, Allerton Grange and Moor Allerton Hall. A good selection of street directory entries is included on the reverse, including Gledhow Wood Avenue/Grove, Harrogate Road, Hawthorn Vale/View, Jackson Avenue, Lidgett Lane and Town Street.
