Old Ordnance Survey Maps

A selection of highly detailed "Old Ordnance Survey Maps", taken from the 1/2500 plans and reprinted at approximately 14" to the mile.

We are frequently asked what the maps actually show-if a particular village or street-sometimes-even an individual house! We have been asked to supply the map with the customers house exactly in the centre! Seldom are large scale maps available showing villages - they simply would not be viable . With the best will in the world we cannot answer all these questions or assist in your particular research. But it really is amazing the detail this series of maps show - bearing in mind the low cover price. We will always try and help where possible, but do bear the above points in mind when enquiring.

LANCASHIRE

Lancaster (South) 1910
This detailed map covers the southern part of Lancaster. Coverage stretches from Aberdeen Road and the cattle market southward to the Royal Albert Asylum, and from Golgotha Road westward to Aldcliffe Hall. Major features include White Cross Mills, Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Ripley Hospital (Orphanage), Nazareth House, Royal Albert Asylum, Royal Albert Farm, tramways, Queen's Mill, The Greaves, Bowerham, Moorside, Bowerham Barracks, Primrose Hill, LNWR engine shed, Lancaster Canal. Part of Aldcliffe around Aldcliffe Hall (but not church) is in SW corner.
