 Old Ordnance Survey Maps

A selection of highly detailed "Old Ordnance Survey Maps", taken from the 1/2500 plans and reprinted at approximately 14" to the mile.

We are frequently asked what the maps actually show-if a particular village or street-sometimes-even an individual house! We have been asked to supply the map with the customers house exactly in the centre! Seldom are large scale maps available showing villages - they simply would not be viable . With the best will in the world we cannot answer all these questions or assist in your particular research. But it really is amazing the detail this series of maps show - bearing in mind the low cover price. We will always try and help where possible, but do bear the above points in mind when enquiring.

Middlesbrough 1913
This detailed map covers the centre of Middlesbrough, with coverage stretching from Newport station eastward to Marton Road, and from Kensington Road and Albert Park northward to Wilson Street. (The station and St Hilda's are on the North Middlesbrough map.) Features on this very busy map include Town Hall, Victoria Square, tramways, North Riding Infirmary, Corporation Road, Workhouse, cemetery, Newport Road, St Cuthbert's church, St Paul's church, Ayresome Park football ground (at foot of map), Newport iron works with railway and Old Town Junction, Albert Park including maze, Park Vale Road, Guisborough Junction, All Saints church, Dorman Museum, Nazareth House orphanage, St Mary's Convent, St John's church, Royal Exchange - and innumerable streets packed with small terraced houses. On the reverse we include street directory entries for Corporation Road, Linthorpe Road, Park Road, Southfield Road, Waterloo Road and Woodlands Road in 1905.
