ARMORICA
and BRITAIN Cross Channel relationships in the late first millenium BC.
Studies in Celtic Coinage Number 3. The purpose of this short monograph is to bring together the archaeological evidence for maritime intercourse between Armorica and southern Britain in the latter part of the Iron Age. The few, classical texts which touch often obscurely on the problem have often been rehearsed, but the archaeological evidence is widely scattered throughout a desperate literature. Much new work on both sides of the channel has made a fuller assessment both possible and desirable: the new study forms the first section of this monograph. The second section - a discussion of Armorican coins in Britain - grows from a recent study of the development of coinage in Armorica itself by the second author (de Jersey). The two sets of data are, to some extent, complementary, and allow us to develop some generalisations in the final section which serves as a conclusion and as an opportunity to raise new questions which we believe are deserving of further research initiative. Vi,117 (5) pages. Illustrations featured throughout the text. £16.00 + £4.00 p&p U. K. (Ref: b0291)
