Drawing on archaeological sources both in Europe and the USA, a chronological catalogue of all main types of buckle is presented with clear line drawings and photographs. Appendices include harness buckles, other types of fasteners and related fittings, and there is a bibliography. This is the only publication that covers the whole spectrum of buckles in one volume.
