The late Roman treasure from Hoxne, Suffolk, found in 1992, is one of the richest hoards of its kind known. Consisting of over 14,700 coins and some 200 other gold and silver objects, its importance is enhanced by the fact that it has been professionally excavated, enabling details to be recorded which reveal new insights into the troubled years of the early fifth century AD, when it was buried.
